I am pretty clear that for me astrology and all that kind of stuff is entertaining so I don’t discourage it or dismiss those who talk about it (I’m not the anti-astrology cynicists who get into arguments.) I find it quite amusing to get my astrology readings and do feel they have a nice “placebo” effect. If someone says, “You are going to get a promotion this year.”, I’m sure it affects my behaviour in a positive way making it very likely I will get one. I’ve met many counselling psychologists who’re into astrology and find it a very effective tool (though not sure if it fits in their ethical frame.)

Will I ever believe in astrology/palmistry/etc.? No.

I do believe, however, in deductive reasoning. So suppose you find my hands soft and therefore make an assumptions that I have never done hard-work in my life, yes. You could say a crease is pretty deep and therefore probably the person has twitchy hands, implying the probability that he is nervous, and I might buy that explanation.
